Dear applicant and future Belmont Abbey student:
The Hintemeyer program is designed to foster the leadership potential of a select group of Catholic men and women. The program requires exemplary character; serious commitment to the truth and life of Catholicism; exceptionally strong self-motivation, initiative, and creativity; academic diligence and accomplishment; and exercise of these qualities and abilities in the service of others. Throughout their four years in the program, Hintemeyer scholars strive to grow together in faith, virtue, and wisdom, particularly through our small-group Households. While Households do not share a common living space, Hintemeyers are carefully placed in a Household and remain with that group of men or women throughout all four years of college, so that the group may share the joys and challenges of life and grow together in authentic Christian friendship.
In addition to the shared life of prayer and sacraments, Hintemeyers are expected to develop a strong leadership profile each year by committing to substantial leadership roles on or off campus. As examples, students may hold traditional leadership roles, such as Resident Advisor, participate in and eventually lead existing clubs or organizations, or found new programs or projects on or off campus. All leadership proposals are approved by the program director and may be adapted with permission at any time. Successful Hintemeyers tend to be excited about the freedom they have to discern their leadership roles based upon their strengths and passions, and about the opportunity to serve others through those God-given gifts.
The Hintemeyer seeks students who live their faith with conviction, who have proven leadership ability and self-motivation, and who have a desire to serve others. Please read carefully the requirements and instructions listed below. Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be considered.
Once you have submitted all application materials you will be contacted to schedule an interview. Thank you for your application, and God bless!
Director, Hintemeyer Catholic Leadership Program
