Father John Oetgen, O.S.B. Scholarship for Excellence in Theatre and Performing Arts

Application Information
  • The purpose of the Oetgen Scholarship is to provide interested students with a $5,500 per annum financial reward that encourages them to pursue excellence in Theatre Arts or Dance. Belmont Abbey College offers minors in both fields, and the scholarship recipient is required to minor in one of these.
  • In addition to the Minor, which is open to all students, the Oetgen Scholar is required to participate within the Abbey Players in one way or another. The participation gives the Oetgen Scholar continued practical experience in the field. This experience can be artistic (acting, directing), technical (stage management, set construction, lighting or sound operation) or clerical (house management, assistance with season ticket campaigns). The Oetgen Scholar must work on one mainstage show per semester during each academic year.
  • Applicants must also complete an application for admission to Belmont Abbey College to be eligible for this award.
